It’s Toastday, see you at the Cannery
The countdown continues on the Cannery’s closing.
Tonight, the Daily Pilot holds its second “Toast to Tuesdays” to
commemorate the Newport institution’s final days. One more of the Pilot’s
Tuesday parties, on Sept. 7, is open to the public. Appetizers are
provided, and there is a no-host bar.
So if you have a Cannery memory, or want to make one before it’s too
late, come on out. If you can’t make it tonight, there are a few other
chances.
Speak Up Newport will hold its next meeting, Sept. 1, at the Cannery.
Historian Art Gronsky will discuss its colorful past at the 5:30 meeting.
And the Newport Harbor Area Chamber of Commerce will have a farewell
party of its own Sept. 2 at 5 p.m.
So pick a time to say goodbye to the Cannery and owner Bill Hamilton
before the doors close for good Sept. 12.
