CAR CRASH AT INTERSECTION INJURES FIVE

A two-car collision in Huntington Beach on Friday left three teenage

pedestrians and both drivers injured, police said.

Ryan Donegan, 18, of Westminster, ran a red light at the intersection

of Newland Street and Atlanta Avenue at about 1 p.m. and collided into a

car driven by Matthew Debate, 22, of Huntington Beach, Huntington Beach

Police Sgt. Janet Perez said.

The two cars slid sideways and skidded onto a curb, hitting the three

girls at the northwest corner of the intersection, Lt. Luis Ochoa said.

Huntington Beach residents Rachel Crooks, 15, Danielle Taylor, 14, and

Natalie DeLeon, 14, suffered leg and back injuries, Ochoa said. They were

transported to Hoag Hospital in Newport Beach, he said.

Donegan, suffered a head injury and was taken to Western Medical

Center in Santa Ana. Debate went to UCI Medical Center in Orange with

internal injuries Ochoa said.
