Flames continue on red-hot roll

The Flames continued their dominance of their Norris Division

opponents Friday, this time by blanking the Sabres, 2-0, at Coast 2 Coast

Inline Hockey Center in Huntington Beach.

With goalie Shane Lakes keeping the Sabres out of the nets, the

Flames’ offense supported his shutout as both Alex Loeffelman and Kyle

Power scored, and both Brandon Weiss and Tyler Lakes each had an assist.

Despite recording their seventh consecutive win following a season

opening loss to the Roughnecks, the Flames were held to their lowest

point total in a match this season.

The shutout was the second of the season for both Shane Lakes and

the defense, which blanked the Sharks, 5-0, back on July 14.

Sabres goalie Garrett Ono turned away 21 shots by the Flames.

In other games:

Red Wings 6, Roughnecks 5

A balanced attack was led by two goals and an assist recorded by

both Garrett Gardiner and Michael Inouye, Blake Jirges scored once with

two assists, and Brittany Downer scored once with an assist to carry the

Red Wings (1-4-1) to their first win of the season.

Kevin Ewing scored three goals, both Brett Shaver and Travis

Benson each scored once, and Jim Martin had an assist for the Roughnecks,

who dropped their third-straight match after opening the season with

three victories.

Stars 4, Hat Trix 4

Andrew Jackson scored twice and Steven Koressel had an assist for

the Stars, who saw their record move to 2-2-1.

Justin Romers scored twice, Colten Daigneault scored once, and

Brian Daigneault added an assist for Hat Trix, now 1-1-2.

LEMIEUX DIVISION

Extreme 5, Roadkill 2

Brian Murphy’s two goals led an Extreme scoring attack that also

featured single goals by Derek Eichert, Robbie Kleinberg, and Jon Wissel,

while Wissel, Warren Runk, and Chuck Bruce each had an assist.

Goals went to both Matt Carter and Christopher Lincoln, and both

Lincoln and Jaclyn McKie each had an assist for Roadkill (1-3).

Tsunami 6, Renegades 3

Tami Hussein paced Tsunami (2-2) with three goals and an assist,

and the offense was supported by single scores by Miroslav Bilanovic,

Alan Hodge, and Justin Hunt, while goalie Kyle Geller turned away 22 shot

attempts by the Renegades.

David Kirchner scored twice, Jason Case scored once, and both

Terry Dillon and Michael Kirchner each had an assist for the Renegades

(0-2-2).
