MILLENNIUM MOMENT

Costa Mesa City Councilman Joe Erickson has been a driving force

behind the revitalization of the West Side. Since starting on the council

in 1991, Erickson has made reducing crime and boosting business top

priorities. Erickson also served as mayor from 1994 to 1996.

Erickson is known for jogging around the city at 5 a.m. as well as for

his 1996 creation of the “Turkey Trot,” an informal six-mile run that

encourages East Siders to do a little jogging of their own.
