MILLENNIUM MOMENT
Alice Fox, 81, is known as “Foxie” to countless people who
participated in youth programs at the Orange Coast YMCA in Newport Beach.
Fox started working there on a part-time basis in 1952 and went on to
develop a diverse range of programs for youth in grades seventh through
12. Fox was influential in the development of day activities, mountain
camping expeditions and the YMCA Model Legislature Program.
In addition to her work with the YMCA, Fox has been involved with many
community groups, including the Newport Harbor Zonta Club, the Newport
Harbor Business and Professional Women’s Club and the Costa Mesa High
School chapter of American Field Service.
* MILLENNIUM MOMENT celebrates the people who have made a major
contribution to the Newport-Mesa community during this century.
