NEWPORT BEACH -- Fletcher Jones Motorcars is closer to including a

Mediterranean-style restaurant as one of many amenities the dealership

offers after the Planning Commission approved the addition this week.

The commission unanimously voted in favor of establishing the

full-service, Renato Restaurant, which will offer breakfast, lunch and

dinner.

“I’m really pleased to finally get approved for the restaurant because

we think it will be a tremendous benefit for our clients and employees,”

said Garth Blumenthal, Fletcher Jones Motorcars general manager.

As a condition of the approval, the restaurant will be required to

block its lighting with blinds during closing hours beginning at 10 p.m.,

said Planning Commissioner Michael Kranzley.

The approximate 2,500-square-foot facility, which will be located

inside the main building adjacent to the service entrance, will serve

beer and wine and have outdoor seating.

Blumenthal said he hopes construction would begin before Thanksgiving

and the restaurant will be open by spring of next year.

The restaurant addition will join various other establishments at the

dealership, including a shoeshine facility, a putting green, boutique,

manicure service and children’s play area.

“We want to make sure we make visiting Fletcher Jones the most

rewarding experience in terms of having various services that could

stimulate our clients interest,” Blumenthal said.
