OCC tied in knots
SAN DIEGO - Orange Coast College women’s soccer coach Barbara Bond
watched her team dominate the first half, but the Pirates eventually gave
way to a San Diego Mesa goal with seven minutes left as the two teams
battled to a 2-2 nonconference tie Tuesday.
Freshman Nadine Engel got the first Pirate goal with an assist from
Newport Harbor High product Taylor Yurada, a sophomore.
And Yurada was in the scoring sequence again when she drove home a
goal off Danielle Loftis’ assist.
Amanda Bell went 70 minutes in the goal and had three saves, allowing
one goal.
The Pirates (2-4-1) outshot Mesa, 12-5, but had to settle for the
standoff.
