HUNTINGTON BEACH NEEDS ANOTHER GUN RANGE

The “Firing-Line” is the only current indoor gun range in Huntington

Beach. It often gets quite busy, and parking is inadequate. It would be

wonderful to have a more modern facility that hopefully would allow the

use of higher velocity ammo for recreational shooters and police.

A VOTE FOR WAL-MART IS A VOTE FOR LOWER TAXES

If the building of Wal-Mart comes to a vote, let’s hope that the legion

of tax protesters residing in Huntington Beach will appear at the polls

and vote to lessen their taxes by the millions and millions of dollars of

tax money, for schools and infrastructure, that will be generated -- now

and in the future -- if the proposed Wal-Mart becomes a reality.

MILE SQUARE PARK BECOMING LESS AND LESS USER FRIENDLY

How many further indignities will the users of Mile Square Park have to

suffer?

We have lost the open space in the center of the park so developers can

build a for-profit golf course. Walking paths have been closed.

Skateboarders have been banished, with ugly “No skateboarding” warnings

painted on retaining walls like graffiti.

Participants in many hobby activities have been driven out of the

county. Families dart through heavy traffic across Warner and Euclid to

reach free parking. The alleged nature area is never open. The beautiful

red foxes have been classified as vermin.

Now, on my recent walks through the park, I have discovered that

restrooms four, five, and six are now closed during the week.

On my last two walks, the poorly maintained open restrooms had urinals

constantly running, flooding the floor with an inch of water.

I realize that the supervisor who represents our district, Chuck Smith,

is very busy trying to cram a useless airport down the throats of South

County residents. Don’t any of our other local leaders have any pride in

our park, or shame for its neglect?

I sincerely hope that someone will challenge Chuck Smith in the

primary and call him to account for his rape of Mile Square Park.
