Water polo: Capo turns table on Mesa

VILLA PARK - Costa Mesa High’s boys water polo team could not make

it two in a row against Capistrano Valley as the Mustangs lost to the

Cougars, 9-4, Thursday in the first round of the Villa Park Tournament.

The Mustangs defeated Capo Valley Tuesday in a nonleague matchup, 9-8,

but fell behind, 7-1, after three quarters and could not come back.

Alex Sarris had two goals for Costa Mesa, while Mike Vaillancourt and

Mike Whitman added a goal.

Goalie Chris Dolloff had eight saves for the Mustangs, who continue

their tournament play today.
