REUNION DINNER
Past members of the Newport-Balboa Rotary Club are invited to a Reunion
Dinner on Wednesday at the Bahia Corinthian Yacht Club. President Jim
Sirkin notes that in its 61-year history, Newport-Balboa Rotary has had
many of the community’s leading business and civic leaders in its
membership at one time or another and continues to sponsor Arbor Day tree
distribution, city of Newport Beach Track Meet, college and vocational
scholarships and Lifeline at Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian.
Rotary Club program chairman Bob Wood has lined up the Orange County
Sheriff’s Bomb Squad for the evening’s program. The reception begins at
5:45 p.m., dinner at 6:15 and adjournment by 8 p.m. Former Rotarians
planning to attend are asked to RSVP by Tuesday at (949) 660-8665, ext.

OK, I’LL TRY TO GET IT RIGHT
Brad Schwarz, editor of The Tale, the newsletter of the Costa
Mesa-Newport Harbor Lions Club, notes that not once, but twice, I have
announced in this column that Roberto Jara is a new member of the Lions
Club. Schwarz points out that Roberto actually joined the Lions Club in
1982 and has 18 years of perfect attendance. Roberto did sponsor the
club’s newest member, his nephew, Raul Jara. Welcome to the world of
service clubs, Raul!
