Frank Hamilton, 69, dies

FT. WALTON BEACH, Fla. - Frank Hamilton, a pitcher for Newport

Harbor High’s only league championship team in school history in 1948,

died Oct. 15 after a long bout with cancer. He was 69.

A 6-foot-4 left-handed pitcher, he went on to Stanford University, and

after two years, transferred to Kansas, where he graduated with an

architectural degree.

He spent two years with the paratroopers in the U.S. Army and

eventually became a renown artist, including a listing in the “Who’s Who

in American Art.”.

The family, which includes first wife, Betty, and the mother of son

Jeff and wife Shari, and daughter Jennifer Hamilton Wray, and his sister,

Grace, and her husband George Coffin, request that any memorials be
