The Fountain Valley Jr. Pee Wee Division Teal Jaguar defense,

spearheaded by the five-quarterback sack performance by Sean Tierney,

recorded its first shutout of the season and the team’s first win of the

year in a 13-0 decision over the Orange Chiefs (East) at Fountain Valley

High.

Tierney also was one of the top tacklers for the Teal Jaguars, who

also received a pair of quarterback sacks from Derek DeMun, and one each

from Bryce Loy, Zack Moore, Dean Persinger, Michael Clark, and Max Bell,

who also recovered a fumble.

Vince DiDomenico, who rushed for 80 yards on 18 carries, ran for

two touchdowns behind an offensive line consisting of Tierney, Bell,

DeMun, Wesley Amelung, Joe McCann, Danny Heben, Danny Stenglein, Dominic

Santana, and Jeff LaMond.

The shutout victory was the reversal of a 13-0 loss Fountain

Valley suffered the previous week against the Garden Grove Panthers.

The Teal Jaguars, now 1-5, travel to Ocean View High Saturday (9

a.m.) to battle the Huntington Beach Dolphins.

In a battle for sole possession of first place in the AFL-Pacific

Conference, the visiting Jaguars (5-0-1) came up with big plays on

special teams to hand the Patriots (5-1) their first loss of the season.

The Jaguar defense recovered three onside kicks and held the

Patriots to a season-low five first downs. It was led by linebackers

Bryan Reihm, Ray Andong, and Bobby Silva, linemen David Patterson, Brian

Selleck, Joey Vasquez, ends Michael Musso and Anthony Breceda, and

corners Ross Morrow, Kyle Feiler, and Derick Cirbus.

The victory was punctuated when Doug Delong intercepted a Patriot

pass at the Fountain Valley 10-yard line and returned it 65 yards late in

the game. The Jaguars took a knee on the next play to run out the clock.

In six games, the Jaguar defense has yielded just 14 points.

Fountain Valley earned a tie at 8-8 at the half on Feiler’s

20-yard touchdown pass to Delong on a corner route, and the Jaguars went

ahead for good on Reihm’s 10-yard touchdown run in the third quarter.

The Jaguars will attempt to remain unbeaten Saturday when they

host the Mission Viejo Cowboys in a 3 p.m. kickoff at Fountain Valley

High.
