NHB Black overcomes slow start, beats Nitemares
The North Huntington Beach Black boys Under-10 soccer tempered a
slow start with a fast finish to dispose of the visiting Chino Hills
Nitemares, 4-0, in Silver Division action at Estancia High in Costa Mesa.
The Nitemares, just 2-7 overall, held NHB to just one first half goal,
which came when Jhovany Hernandez headed in a corner kick from Fabian
Robiatti with just two minutes remaining before the intermission.
But the Black pulled away from the Nitemares’ determined effort in the
second half. Esteban Orejel scored two goals and assisted a third in the
half. First, he sent a perfect pass to Abraham Villon near the goal, and
Villon put the ball into the net for a 2-0 lead.
Christian Ramirez assisted the next goal by taking a shot that had
ricocheted off the Nitemare goalie, then fed Orejel, who kicked in a line
drive from 10 yards out for the score.
The game’s final goal came at the 15:30 mark when Orejel dribbled away
from two Nitemare defenders and kicked home an uncontested goal.
The defensive play of Hernandez, Robiatti, Ryan Lehane, Patrick
Sheffield, and Matt Wood helped limit the Nitemares to just four shots on
goal.
Goalie Kody Suryan posted his fourth shut out in league play.
NHB travels to Mission Viejo Saturday to take on San Clemente Utd.
