Youth soccer: Ameba’s squash the Killer Tomatoes

NEWPORT BEACH - The Newport Beach Ameba soccer team defeated the

Corona del Mar Killer Tomatoes, 2-1, in AYSO Boys-14 Intercity Area Q

Action Saturday afternoon.

Mike Richardson scored the game-winning goal off a pass from Sergio

Luna with three minutes remaining the match to give Newport its fourth

win in a row.

Eduardo Garcia scored the Ameba’s first goal of the game, with an

assist from Luna in the first half.

CdM rallied to tie the score early in the first half before

Richardson’s goal late in the game.

Mike Bury and Brendan Sowers each played solid at center-half, while

Ramez Wissa controlled the midfield area for the Ameba.
