A 32-year-old Corona man suspected of illegally selling willed body

parts, in a case that was brought to light by OCC professors, pleaded not

guilty to the charges Friday.

Phillip Guyett Jr. said he is innocent of grand theft of personal

property, embezzlement and unlawful disposal of a body.

Guyett was released on his own recognizance and ordered to return to

court next month.

Police and school officials believe he was selling bodies and body parts

that had been willed to Western University in Pomona and kept the money.

Authorities were alerted to Guyett’s alleged misconduct by OCC officials,

who received a cadaver from Western that was partially decomposed. When

they called the university, there was no record of the transaction.
