Newport Harbor advances to semis

SANTA BARBARA - Newport Harbor High’s girls volleyball team

advanced to the semifinals in the Santa Barbara Tournament of Champions

Friday with two 3-0 sweeps.

In the first round, April Ross had 10 kills to lead the Sailors to a

15-6, 15-3, 15-6 win over Westlake. Lisa Addeo and Krista Dill

contributed with eight kills.

In the second round, Ross and Heather Cullen led the Sailors with 12

kills each as Newport Harbor defeated host Santa Barbara, 15-12, 15-9,

15-4. Katie King had 36 assists and three aces in the match.

Newport Harbor moves on and plays Fresno Bullard today in the semifinal.
