The National Dean’s List for 1998-99 features students from the

Newport-Mesa area, including Corona del Mar resident Sean Young, and

Costa Mesa resident Gauree Gupta, who both attend UCLA, Newport Beach

resident Michele Ota, who attends Concordia University, and Costa Mesa

resident Hiroshi Kawamura, who attends Cal State Polytechnic

University.... Orange Coast College will induct Rachel Perez-Hamilton, a

retired OCC employee and a past president of the college’s Alumni and

Friends association, into its Alumni Hall of Fame in a ceremony Nov. 4.

Perez-Hamilton is a lifelong Costa Mesa resident. She graduated from

Newport Harbor High School in 1956 and from OCC in 1958.... Army Pfc.

Alvin J. Boltron, son of Costa Mesa resident Leticia Boltron, has arrived

at Fort Knox to complete his basic combat training.... Navy Fireman Kevin

M. Leslie, son of Newport Beach resident Sherrie L. Bowie, is halfway

through a six-month deployment to the Western Pacific Ocean, Indian Ocean

and Arabian Gulf aboard the aircraft carrier USS Constellation.
