The Fountain Valley Jaguars reached into their bag of tricks on

Halloween weekend to produce their only score of the game, and the

trickery worked to perfection as the Jaguars held on for an 8-7 victory

over the visiting Corona Panthers in a Pee Wee Division contest played at

Fountain Valley High.

Quarterback Jimmy Leeman completed a pass to Daniel Rodriguez, who then

pitched the ball to Ahmed Abdelmuti, who raced 30 yards for the

touchdown.

That was the only score by the Fountain Valley offense, and the Jaguar

defense took over from there.

Edgar Santana recovered a fumble, Wayne Glisson intercepted a pass, and

Isaiah Wilson intercepted the Panthers on their final possession to stop

a Corona drive, and the Jaguars went on to run out the clock.

Fountain Valley plays its final regular season game Saturday, hosting the

Orange West Chiefs in a 1 p.m. start at Fountain Valley High.

JR. PEE WEE DIVISION

Westminster 14, FV Teal Jaguars 0

The Fountain Valley Teal Jaguars turned in a strong defensive performance

Saturday, but still came out on the short end of a 14-0 score to the

Westminster Lions in Jr. All-American Football Jr. Pee Wee Division

action.

Fountain Valley stopped Westminster’s opening drive of the game at the

Jaguar three-yard line but on its ensuing possession, had a punt blocked,

which the Lions recovered at the five-yard line.

Westminster turned the play into six points, and a two-point kick made it

8-0.

A Fountain Valley turnover also led to Westminster’s only other score as

the Lions scooped up a fumble and returned it 60 yards to the Jaguar

two-yard line. The Lions quickly scored to make it 14-0, but Fountain

Valley’s Max Bell broke through to block the two-point kick.

Derek DeMun, Michael Clark, and John Gaston each recorded a sack for the

Jaguars.

The Jaguars, a first-year expansion team, conclude their season Saturday

by playing the Corona Panthers in an 11 a.m. start at Corona High.

Mission Viejo 20, FV Black Jaguars 13

Bryan Schutte scored on runs covering 22 and 20 yards, but Fountain

Valley’s Black Jaguars couldn’t overcome a 14-0 deficit in falling to the

Cowboys.

It was the first loss of the season for Fountain Valley, which fell to

7-1.

Mission Viejo took advantage of two early Fountain Valley turnovers to

take a 14-0 lead. Schutte’s 22-yard scoring run pulled the Black Jaguars

within 14-7, but the Cowboys responded with a touchdown on their ensuing

possession to open up a 20-7 advantage.

Schutte’s second touchdown run, which came behind the blocking of linemen

Austin Ray, J.D. Farmer, Trevor Clarke, Travis Koelher, and Max Rudzwick,

made it a 20-13 game at the half.

Travis McNaughton, Eric Ceja, Michael Berber, Hillard Boddie, Joshua

Perez, and Ryan Valencia held the Cowboys scoreless in the second half.

The playoff-bound Black Jaguars conclude their regular season Saturday in

Placentia, where they will take on the host Tri-City Steelers.
