NMJAAF: Midget Seahawks blank Corona, 31-0

NEWPORT BEACH - The Newport Mesa Junior All-American Football

Midget Seahawks blanked the Corona Panthers, 31-0, Saturday afternoon.

Matt Encinias scored four touchdowns to lead the Seahawks’ offense.

The offensive line of Zach Wishengrad, Brian Wise, Joevany Cueva, Eric

Curtis and Luis Gudino opened numerous holes for the offensive leaders

like Jun Azurin, Brian Campos and Encinias.

On defense, Sam Matlin, Cole Edwards, Bo Burgess, Chris Channing,

Sylvester Langrine, R.J. Martin, Jon McLain, Tim McCullough, Mike

Puentes, Chris Wade and Luis Gonzalez, all had solid efforts in

preserving the shutout.

The win puts the Seahawks in second place with a 6-1-1 record and

clinches a playoff berth.

In other NMJAAF action:

Junior Pee Wee Seahawks 41, Corona Cowboys 0 - John Angelo’s two

rushing touchdowns and P.J. Banning’s two TDs were the offensive leaders

for the Seahawks.

Matt Loyd scored on a 50-yard TD run and quarterback Matt Hauser threw

a touchdown pass to Conner Ferguson.

Other offensive contributors for the Seahawks were Jake Wuebben, Kyle

Hayhoe, David Root and Mike Orozco.

On the “O” line, Ryan Telles, Richie Sorenson, Bryce Jardine, Lou

Truxton, Trent Sharp, Charles Vickery, Alex Buffalini, Zak Lavengood,

Alex Warnock and Brian Lawler opened the holes for the Seahawks.

The defense, which recorded its third shutout of the season, was led

by Tony Jones, John Gothard, Nick Armendariz, Scott Andrews, David

Tomkinson, Zach Sepulveda, Ryan Dupuie, Noor Naim and Jack Turner.

Junior Clinic Seahawks 21, Irvine Chargers 0 - Hunter Alder, Drew

Littlefair and Nick Taormina all scored their first touchdowns of the

season for the Seahawks, with Steve Durham, Austin Ford, Andrew Fulcher,

D.J. Hauser, Chase Hoyt, and Nick Trippi opening the holes on the

offensive line.

The defense was strong, led by Trevor Davis, Kyle Chene, David

Kidushium, Mickey Miela, Jack Belli, Antwon Byrd, Haley Alder and Parker

Lanting.

Clinic-level Seahawks 19, Mission Viejo Cowboys 0 - The Seahawks

scored twice behind the blocking of Sean Berkley, Riley Murphy, Jerry

Whitney, Colby Ammerman, Garrett Amoroso, Bucko Theriot, Taylor Sepulveda

Patrick Brennen, Woody Yokoyama and Kevin Morgenstern.

The Seahawks, which was the factor in the team’s win, was led by

Corbin McNutt, Kevin Rask, Robbie Lusk, Justin Elbourn, Brandon Davis,

William O’Brien, Scott Chene, Erik Bask, Travis Sorensen and Jonathan

Tripi.

Junior Midget Seahawks 22, Mission Viejo Cowboys 6 - Spencer Link had

two offensive touchdowns and one defensive touchdown to lead the

Seahawks.

Mike Angelo passed for two extra points, while the offensive line of

Trevor Theriot, Sean Ellis, Chris Taylor, Avery Fenton and Sean Goodman

provided solid blocking.

Kasey Peters, Tom Welch, Kevin Welch, Kevin Joyce, Dan Marin-Finn, Wes

Presson and Alex Orth played strong defense for the Seahawks.

Orange Chiefs 26, Pee Wee Seahawks 13 - Touchdowns were scored by Matt

Silva and Marc Quarles, while quarterback caught a 60-yard pass from

running back Anthony Santos.

Other offensive stars were receivers Josh Miller and Patrick Williams,

along with linemen Brett Odgen, Shaun Mohler, Steve Hancock, Bijan

Ahmadi, Eric Ray, Nathan Stoneman and Philip DiGiacomo.

On the defensive side, the Seahawks were led by Junior Rodriguez, Ryan

Dalton, Tyler Ellis, James Coder, David Yi, Chase Whitaker, Ricky

Sepulveda, Ryan Breslin and Ben Maggard.
