AYSO Region 97: Blue Vipers blank Chargers

NEWPORT BEACH - Max Royer and Marcos Castaneda each scored for the

Blue Vipers in their 2-0 win Saturday in AYSO Region 97, Under-10 boys

soccer action.

Castaneda goal was a own goal, while Royer’s goal came off a pass from

Wes Parks.

Mark Espinoza also aided in the offensive attack of the Blue Vipers

with numerous shots on goal.

Leading the Blue Vipers to the shutout were goalies Henry Pyle and

Peter Hapke, along with strong defensive play from Timothy Regan,

Humberto Lozano, Santiago Castaneda, Drew Wittenberg, Jason Wittman,

Blake Chiapuzzo and Darren Leggett.

In Division 4 boys action:

Raging Thunder 4, Surf Slayers 1 - Nick Weil, Travis Mayfield and

Nathan Cramer each scored goals for the Raging Thunder.

Strong ball-handling was performed by midfielders Chad Stassel, Kyle

Rohan, Jonathan Gordon, Jason Walker and Kalani Simon.

The Slayers were kept to just one shot on goal due in large to the

solid defensive play of Corbin Williamson, Christian Barnett, Kevin

Eredia and goalie Brett Green.

In Division 5 boys action:

Tsunamis 3, Tidal Waves 1 - In a meteorologists dream game, the

Tsunamis, led by goals from Erik Bonn and Michael Bingham, defeated the

Tidal Waves.

Ceasar Amador had two assists, while Hayden Navarro and R.J. D’Cruz

added one for the Tsunamis.

Strong goalie saves were turned in by Cameron Chase and Danny Miller,

while solid all-around play came from Kyle Caldwell, Steven Reader, Rex

Nelson, Cameron Holmes and Mitchell Bancroft.

In Girls-Under-14 action:

Newport Black Magic 3, Tustin 0 - Allyson Jennings had two goals,

while Barbara Jullian added another for the Black Magic.

The offensive help came from Robin Senour, Amanda Hoffenberg, Casey

Ibbetson, Lauren Curtis, Kristin Jendrusina, Ally Stoltz and Kimmy

Miller.

Vic Swigart, Kimberly Hanley, Kelly Boler and Janelle Arnold slowed

the Tustin offense, and Kara DeMille preserved the shutout in goal.

In Division 5 girls action:

Radical Raspberries 3, Ice Kickers 0 - Kayla Henrie scored the first

goal of the game, while Leslie Boler added two more goals to clinch the

victory.

Leading the Raspberries on offense were Chloe Addington-Assifi,

Natalie Cedeno and Angela Graham, while on defense, Ann Darnell, Katrina

Johnson, Ashley Spaulding, Abby Scheidewind, Clea O’Kieffe and goalies

Stephanie Stone and Madison McMains led the way.

In Division 6 girls action:

For the Teenie Wahines in their matchup against the Icicles, Jordan

Murrel, Hanna MacLeod and Lindsay Anderson each scored goals on assists

from Blakely Ficenec, Skylar Hanson, Cassie D’Cruz and Ashley Svendsen.

Defense was led by Sayde Busby and Jessica Swift.
