The Fountain Valley Black Jaguars racked up their eighth win of the

year by blasting the Tri-City Steelers, 40-0, on the final Saturday of

the 1999 Jr. All-American Football regular season.

Brian Schutte scored three times, Freddie Estrada, Joshua Perez, and

Isaiah Romero each scored touchdowns, and A.J. Wukawitz scored on an

extra point run as the Black Jaguars prepared for the upcoming postseason

with a lopsided victory.

Fountain Valley used several players in the offensive backfield during

the game, with Travis McNaughton, Michael Berber, Jeff Hennes, J.D.

Farmer, Eric Ceja, Kevin Loyola, and Jonathon Loyola all carrying the

ball.

The defensive play of Ryan Valencia, Travis Koehler, Martin Duran, Trevor

Clarke, Hillard Boddie, Joshua Gutierrez, David McClelland, Max Rudzwick,

Austin Ray, Coby Mason, and brothers Christian and Christopher Yerena

held the Steelers to just two first downs.

The Black Jaguars, now 8-1 overall, begin postseason play Saturday by

taking on the winner of the Huntington Beach-Orange game at George Bellis

Field in Buena Park.

Panthers take bite out of Teal Jaguars, 13-0

In their second defensive battle in as many weeks, the Fountain Valley

Teal Jaguars battled the Corona Panthers to the end but just like their

previous outing, came out on the short end in a two-touchdown loss.

The host Panthers scored a touchdown in each of the final two quarters to

pull out a 13-0 victory on the final weekend of regular season play.

Fountain Valley’s offense had success moving the ball throughout the

contest, but all five series eventually stalled.

The Teal Jaguar defense also helped preserve a scoreless first half as

linebacker Sean Tierney stripped a Panther running back and recovered the

fumble deep in Fountain Valley territory, and Tierney again came up with

his second big defensive stand of the opening half when he dropped the

Corona quarterback for a 21-yard loss after the Panthers again were

situated deep in Jaguar territory.

Tierney wasn’t the only Teal Jaguar to have a big defensive game as Bryce

Loy also recovered a pair of fumbles, and Michael Clark added a

quarterback sack.

Fountain Valley will play a postseason bowl game Saturday against the

South Gate Rams. The two wishbone offenses will square off at 11 a.m. at

Fountain Valley High.
