Top Gun finalists shoot it out
The Top Gun charity tennis tournament at the Seacliff Tennis Club will
finish this weekend with the women’s final expected to start at 9 a.m.
Sunday and the men’s match beginning around noon.
Scott Davis of Newport Beach, who entered the tournament ranked No. 1,
and University of Southern California women’s coach Glen Michibata, No.
2, are fighting it out to reach the weekend championship at the
Huntington Beach tourney.
Tournament chairman Jim Haley said participation has grown by 30% from
last year. There are 1,250 participants in this year’s competition,
making it the largest charity tennis tournament in the county.
Haley called community support of the tournament this year “outstanding.”
The tournament party held during the first weekend of competition was
also a success, Haley said.
More than 700 people attended a dinner for tournament participants and
their families at Seacliff.
Top Gun action resumes Saturday morning with matches beginning at 7:45.
