If you’re looking for unusual decorating items, stop by Old Newport

Antiques. The packed shop has a little bit of everything, and has been a

spot for decorators to find treasures for model homes, as well as for

theme restaurants all over the country, Canada, Taiwan, Korean and

Mexico. The shop has been at the same location since 1977. Owners Joan

and Roger Schwenk are offering Best Buys readers 10% off on purchases

made through November. They also are having a millennium sale with prices

up to 30% off through the end of January. Of the two, Roger takes the

most interest in the store. He loves to tell people the fun part is

buying for their store and the bad part is getting rid of it. Schwenk

mostly carries lighting in all forms -- table lamps, ceiling, floor

lamps, and lanterns. There also is a good selection of authentic bath and

door hardware, pottery, china, glassware, some furniture, and nautical

and military pieces. Schwenk says he has a lot of mirrors, probably 150,

and most are in storage. There are collectibles, but he stays away from

trends he doesn’t quite understand, like Beanie Babies and Pokemon cards.

Old Newport Antiques is at 477 Old Newport Blvd. in Newport Beach. Call

(949) 548-8713 for more details.
