Richard Luehrs moved to California in 1965 and has spent most of the

three decades since making big decisions affecting business.

After serving as executive vice president and manager of the North

Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, he moved to the role of executive director

of the Newport Beach Chamber of Commerce in 1982 and became the president

of the chamber in 1986.

In addition to working to keep the area economy bustling, Luehrs has had

a hand in numerous local organizations, including Hoag Hospital’s 552

club, the Orange County 20-year master plan committee, and a local

district of the Boy Scouts of Orange County.

* MILLENNIUM MOMENT celebrates the people who have made a major

contribution to the Newport-Mesa community during this century.
