AYSO 57: Division 2 team goes undefeated

NEWPORT BEACH - The girls’ AYSO Region 57 Division 2 soccer team

from Corona del Mar went undefeated in the regular season, before

capturing the Area Q championship and reached the Section 11

championships before finally losing to Downey, 4-2.

In the first game of the Section 11 tournament, Corona del Mar

defeated Huntington Beach, 4-2.

Kristin Hanson scored two goals, while Whittney George and Lauren Loe

each added single tallies.

In the semifinals, CdM, led by Hanson’s two goals, knocked off Garden

Grove, 2-0, sending the team to the finals against Downey.

In the championship loss, Hanson and Stephanie Hardison each scored

for CdM.

Strong forward play was turned in by Elisabeth Nelson, Lauren McHale,

Jennifer Newfield and Kristina Tucci.

In the midfield, CdM was led by Ashley Flaum, Lauren Biggs, Aspen

Parrott, Astrid Soto and Christina Taylor, while on defense, Emily

Milder, Tiffany Pagano, Brittany Price, Amy Tyson and Alissa Zoelle.
