OCC names new Sports Information Director

COSTA MESA - Orange Coast College has named Sam Felsenfeld new

sports information director, replacing long-time SID Jack Shinar.

Felsenfeld, 25, who began his new assignment Monday, attended

Saddleback College in Mission Viejo and was sports editor for the

school’s newspaper, the Lariat.

After graduating from Kansas State University, Felsenfeld was a sports

writing stringer for the Associated Press and with ESPN Sportszone, a

World Wide Web site dedicated to sports coverage.

Shinar left OCC in June to become sports information director at the

California Community Colleges Commission on Athletics in Sacramento.

Felsenfeld will be responsible for marketing and promoting the

college’s 23 men’s and women’s intercollegiate athletic teams, produce

all of the college’s athletic publicity materials and will serve as the

campus’ sports media contact and official statistician.
