Eagles rally, 66-64

GARDEN GROVE - Savanna High scored the first 12 points of the game,

but Estancia rallied to earn a 66-64 boys basketball victory Wednesday in

the consolation bracket of the Matador-Mariner Classic at Pacifica High.

Estancia senior Jason Simco converted a nice pass from point guard Travis

Chandler into a layup with six seconds left. It stood up as the

game-winner when Savanna missed a layup as time expired to help the

Eagles even their record at 1-1.

Chandler joined teammates Jon Cantrell and Darshaun Garner with 16 points

apiece, while Simco finished with 10. It was a career high for Garner,

whom Coach Rich Boyce estimated had more than a dozen rebounds.

Estancia continues in the tournament Friday against an opponent to be

determined.
