Soccer: Boortz to play in nationwide soccer event

NEWPORT BEACH - Kim Boortz of Corona del Mar will be playing in the

nationwide Adidas Soccer IV Showcase Dec. 3-5 at San Jose State

University.

Boortz plays for the Mission Viejo Soccer Club Elite Magic U17, which

is the only team from California participating in the 12-team event.

In their pool, the Magic will take on the FC Royals from Washington,

Busch from St. Louis and Challenge from Houston, last year’s U16 national

champions.

This three-day event will be held during the NCAA’s “College Cup

Weekend”.

Boortz is currently the varsity goalkeeper and a junior at Mater Dei

High.
