Costa Mesa advances to fifth place game

LAKEWOOD - Costa Mesa High’s girls basketball team advanced to

today’s fifth place game in the Mayfair-Bellfower Tournament with a 50-39

win over Mira Costa.

Autumn Smith was a dominating inside presence for the Mustangs (2-1) with

22 points and 10 rebounds. Jenny Earnest chipped in 11 points, and led

Costa Mesa with 11 rebounds. Nancy Hatsushi, along with six points and

five assists, had seven steals to lead a strong defensive outing for the

Mustangs.

The fifth place game is at 1 p.m. at Mayfair High School.
