It’s difficult not to mention Roger’s Gardens every week during the

holidays. It’s perfect for finding the best in decorations, and with the

workshops and demonstrations offered, you can also learn how to recreate

some of the beauty of Roger’s Gardens at your home. At 9:15 a.m.

Saturday, there will be a workshop on how to create simple yet elegant

holiday decorations using items fresh from the garden. The natural

Christmas decor class will be taught by Eric Cortina and Cristin Fusano,

who team up with Roger’s silk floral designer, Tina Bushling. At 9:15

a.m. Sunday, there will be a tree-lighting demonstration. Mary Rose of

Barcan Trees will reveal professional tips for lighting Christmas trees

efficiently as well as beautifully. For gift and decor ideas, you might

want to check out the Steinbach Nutcrackers and the English Baskets

Gardens. Earlier this year, Roger’s Gardens buyers traveled to the heart

of Germany in search of the perfect holiday accents and gifts. They were

very impressed with the quality of the Steinbach Nutcrackers, which are

hand-carved and hand-painted by skilled artisans. The nutcracker

selection at Roger’s this year includes traditional styles of kings,

soldiers and Santas, as well as several modern designs. The English

Basket Gardens are Roger’s own creation of seasonal flowers, combined

with ferns and ivy. The addition of moss and a French bow make the

baskets a beautiful gift. Roger’s Gardens is at 2301 San Joaquin Hills

Road in Newport Beach. Call (949) 640-5800 for more information.

It’s no longer necessary to drive up to Beverly Hills for a “stylist to

the stars” hairstyle. With the arrival of the new Christophe Salon at

Fashion Island, it’s much easier to go to Christophe, whose clientele

reads like a who’s who of political and Hollywood names. Belgium-born

Christophe Schatteman opened his flagship Beverly Hills salon in 1985 and

has since opened two locations in Washington D.C. and St. Barts.

Christophe offers a full range of services, including haircuts, color

treatments, manicures, pedicures, facials and more. The salon boasts a

highly acclaimed team of internationally trained technicians,

cosmetologists and stylists. The salon also offers amenities including

deep oil massages, seaweed wraps and aromatherapy to make the overall

Christophe experience closer to that of a spa than a hair salon. “We are

delighted to have Christophe open one of his renowned salons at Fashion

Island,” said Rick Evans, president of Irvine Retail Properties Company,

owner of Fashion Island. “He has an international reputation for

excellence and will complement the other high quality retailers and

services at Fashion Island.”
