Inside Scoop
Costa Mesa Mayor Gary Monahan isn’t afraid to do a little volunteer work
when it’s needed.
While the city seeks a volunteer to serve as a receptionist at City Hall,
Monahan will fill in today from 9 to 11 a.m. to talk to people about the
position.
“The position is a fantastic opportunity for residents to get involved in
our community and learn valuable skills at the same time,” Monahan said.
The unpaid position involves greeting the public, supplying them
information and doing routine office work.
So here’s your chance to see the mayor in action. City Hall is at 77 Fair
Drive.
Where does The Times go?
After the Daily Pilot ran a story on Di Anna Pfaff-Martin, the founder of
Newport Beach’s Community Animal Network, she went to buy extra copies of
the Pilot to get a few keepsakes. Of course, as Pilot readers know, the
paper only comes in the Los Angeles Times. Pfaff-Martin didn’t need the
extra copies of the Times, so the store’s cashier allowed her to leave a
sign at the register reading “Free L.A. Times compliments of the C.A.N.”
Do you want fries with that Buzz?
Lines at McDonald’s on Bristol Street streamed out the doors and clogged
up the drive-thru at lunchtime Tuesday. Could it be those sensational
French fries, or was it maybe just the Toy Story toys being offered in
the Happy Meals? Listening to the chattering people in line, it sounded
like it was the toys.
