Ian William Voss, a junior at the Marine Military Academy and the son of

Mr. and Mrs. W. Bruce Voss of Newport Beach, has been promoted to the

rank of Cadet Sergeant and will serve as squad leader for the academy....

Dr. Tom W. Staple of Newport Beach participated in a recent

Elderhostel-sponsored program called “The South: In History, Art and

Literature” at the University of Mississippi-Oxford campus. The program

dealt with the politics, economics and society of the South, from the

antebellum period to contemporary times.... Washington State University

has released its summer honor roll, and Cindy Leigh Cook of Costa Mesa is

among those listed.
