Estancia wins its first game

COSTA MESA - Estancia High’s girls basketball team won its first

game of the year against visting Notre Dame Academy of Sherman Oaks,

60-41, Tuesday night.

Erika Avalos scored 17 to lead an Eagles attack that played everyone in

the rout. Xochitl Byfield also scored 12 for Estancia. Becky Lenhart and

Zuyin Barrera, who scored 10 points, hit two three-pointers in the easy

win.

Estancia (1-1) will face Downey today in the El Dorado tournament at 3
