US Marines move into first-place tie

Using a tenacious defensive stand that turned away 36 shot attempts

by the Dirty Turtles, the US Marines posted a 4-3 victory over their

previously undefeated rival in a key Peewee Club Division match Monday at

Coast 2 Coast Inline Hockey Center in Huntington Beach.

Jared Gibo and Derrick Burnett each scored two goals as the US Marines

moved into a first-place tie with the Dirty Turtles at 7-1-1.

Ryan Kokubun, Tim Kraus, and Ryan Agius each had an assist to further the

US Marines cause.

Single goals went to Jason Krispel, David Kirchner, and David Cruz, and

Patrick Tyson and Ryan Morejon each had an assist to lead the Dirty

Turtles.

Goalie David Hammond also turned in a strong defensive performance with

39 saves.

The Fury 6, Crash Dummies 0

David Arambula scored two goals with an assist, Derek Eichert scored

twice, William Holzer and Jon Tanji each scored once, and Virgil De Los

Reyes picked up an assist to power The Fury (3-5-1).

The loss dropped the Crash Dummies record to 4-2-3 overall.

Burnt Biscuits 6, Ruff Riders 6

Ryan Williams scored four goals with an assist, P.J. Kavaya had three

assists, Parker Ito collected two assists, Adam Freede scored once with

an assist, and Taylor Duc added another score for the Burnt Biscuits

(2-6-1). Miroslav Bilanovic scored twice with an assist, Justin Bohn

scored two goals, Kris Ehret scored once with two assists, Alex Vongkoth

scored once, and both Rachel Benninger and Scott Willis had an assist as

the Ruff Riders ended an eight-game losing streak.
