Surf City blues pulls away to victory

Clinging to a one-point lead entering the final period of play,

Rachael Maulit and Catherine Marcoly combined to score 17 points as the West Huntington Beach sixth-grade girls All-Net team, known as the Surf

City Blues, pulled away to a 38-26 victory over South Huntington Beach on

the opening day of National Junior Basketball play Sunday.

Maulit led all scorers with 13 points and also came up with a game-high

10 steals. Susie Bartolme added nine points and eight rebounds and Laura

Boggein collected eight rebounds for the Surf City Blues.
