Stewart Offensive MVP

Newport Harbor High running back Andre Stewart, who led the Sailors

to the Sea View League title, has been chosen Offensive Player of the

Year by the circuit’s coaches.

Stewart, who rushed for 785 yards and scored four touchdowns in four

league games, was joined by seven other Sailors on the first team.

Senior receiver Billy Clayton was a repeat first-team selection, while

junior quarterback Chris Manderino, senior receiver Justin Jacobs, senior

tackle Blair Jones, and senior tight end Nick Langsdorf were other

first-team picks on offense.

On defense, senior outside linebacker Mike Tunney and junior middle

‘backer Alan Saenz were first-team honorees.

Newport tackle Robert Cole, center Luis Cruz and guard Nick Haddy, all

seniors, were second-team choices on offense.

The second-team defense included senior nose guard Andy Kalanz, junior

end Garrett Troncale and senior strong safety Dayne Pfaff.

Irvine senior middle linebacker Mike Patterson was Defensive Player of

the Year.
