Ross Sea View MVP
Newport Harbor High senior April Ross, who shared Sea View League
Most Valuable Player honors as a junior, is the league coaches’ lone
honoree this season.
A 6-foot-1 USC-bound standout who played several positions, Ross led the
Sailors to their seventh straight league championship and was 38-0 in
four-year varsity career against Sea View competition.
Ross, who later helped Coach Dan Glenn’s Tars win their third straight
CIF Southern Section Division I-AA title, as well as their second
consecutive CIF State Division I crown, was one of four Sailors named
all-league.
Krista Dill, a 6-2 senior middle blocker bound for Duke, was a first-team
selection, as was 5-8 senior outside hitter Brenda Waterman.
Heather Cullen, a 6-1 junior middle blocker, was a second-team choice.
Ross is a three-time first-team All-Sea View performer, while Dill and
Waterman were second-team picks as juniors.
