Boys basketball: Eagles knock off Warriors
IRVINE - Estancia High’s boys basketball took the lead down the
stretch to escape with a 60-54 win over Woodbridge in the second day of
the Irvine World News Tournament at Woodbridge High.
With the game tied with five minutes remaining, three-pointers by
Jason Simco and Jon Cantrell gave the Eagles (5-2) the lead for good.
Simco finished with 24 points, while Cantrell had 19 points, including
five three-pointers.
Darshaun Garner led Estancia with 16 rebounds to go along with his six
points.
The Eagles play in the semifinals against the winner of the
Nogales-Vista matchup Friday at a time to be announced.
