Sailing: Newport wins Anteater Regatta
NEWPORT BEACH - Newport Harbor’s sailing team claimed the top spot
in the 15th annual Anteater Regatta last weekend.
With 41 teams throughout California participating in the two-day,
12-race event it was Newport Harbor who turned in the low score of 63 for
the title.
Coronado High was second with 89 points, while The Bishop’s School
took third place with 97 points.
Scott Hogan and Meredith Potter led the Newport team with the
regatta’s low score of 23 points in the “A” Division, winning three of
six races.
Tyler Haskell and Paige Thompson won the “B” Division with a score of
40 points.
Newport’s JV team of Jennifer Porter, Kristin Maberry, Kelsey Cochran,
Gary Grimes and Kim Dootson placed eighth, while Corona del Mar’s team,
led by Phil Stemler and Katie Hughes placed 12th.
