AYSO Region 97: Wild Things take Division 4 girls title.

NEWPORT BEACH - Rebecca Turk’s goal early in the second half gave

the Wild Things the AYSO Region 97 Division 4 girls championship with a

2-1 win over the Gray and Black Attack.

The Wild Things started the regional championship seeded ninth, but

with five consecutive wins against teams seeded higher then them

(including the No. 1 and 2 teams), they swept through the bracket to the

title.

Alex Hren started the scoring for the Wild Things with a first-half

goal, but the G&B; Attack tied the game near the start of the second half.

Miranda Young and Turk each had assists in the game, while goalie

Brittany Cluck had six saves.

Other top performers for the Wild Things included Hayley Young,

Brittany Sturgess, Amy Penner, Carley Clayton, Kelcie Wolf, Lexi

Battelle, Christina Crouse, Jacqueline Schardt and Brytnee Wright.
