Vipers halt skid

The Vipers won for the first time in nearly a month Thursday as

they beat the Red Wings, 4-1, in a Norris East Division match played at

Coast to Coast Inline Hockey Center in Huntington Beach.

Colten Daigneault scored two goals and also assisted another score as the

Vipers halted a losing streak at four games.

Nathan Sutton scored once with an assist and Luke Hamagiwa scored the

other goal as the Vipers moved into a tie six place with the Red Wings at

3-7 overall.

Garrett Ono scored off a feed from his brother, Spenser, to account for

the Red Wings scoring.

In other matches:

Sabres 5, Biting Dogs 3

Team-leading scorer Brittany Downer netted three goals, Kyle Carter

scored once with an assist, and Tyler McAfee also scored as the Sabres

bounced back from their first blemish of the season - a Monday tie with

the Slickshoes, to improve their division-leading record to 9-0-1. The

win was the second of the season by the Sabres over the Biting Dogs

(1-8-1), who received two goals from Ramiro Pimentel, a goal and assist

from Kevin Cant, while Joshua Gane and Johnny Wilson each had an assist.

Slickshoes 2, Hornets 1

The Slickshoes (8-0-2) remained unbeaten on the season as both Joseph

Burkhardt and Joey Mahoney scored, Brendan Kight picked up an assist, and

goalkeeper Mark Kosko recorded 20 saves in a hard-fought match.

Matthew Inouye scored an unassisted goal and goalie Ryan Doyle stopped 18

shots to lead the Hornets, now 3-4-3 overall.

Dragon Ball Z 6, Stars 5

After suffering a mid-season slump, the Dragon Ball Z collected their

fourth win in succession by edging the Stars. Travis Benson and Kevin

Christi each scored twice, Ali Plummer scored once, and Jared Rassler and

Bobby Sowma each had assists for the Dragon Ball Z (5-3-2).

Justin Romers topped all scorers with three goals, Robert Sanchez had a

goal and assist, Andrew Jackson scored once, Adam Lamotte assisted two

goals, and Chris Snapper also had an assist for the Stars (1-4-5).
