Girls water polo: CdM edged, 8-6

VILLA PARK - The Corona del Mar High girls water polo team played

host Villa Park even in three of four periods Friday. But the Spartans

scored the only two goals of the second quarter to claim an 8-6 nonleague

win.

Senior Melinda Tucker and sophomore Lauren Guthrie had three goals apiece

for the visitors (5-4 and ranked No. 10 in Orange County). Goalie Arin

Hendrickson collected a season-high 15 saves.

Villa Park, ranked No. 4, represents the fourth straight CdM opponent

ranked in the county’s top five.
