IN BRIEF
-- Greg Risling
Police are looking for the culprits who defaced some of scenic Corona del
Mar State Beach over the weekend.
Beachgoers arrived Monday morning to find several walls and rocks defaced
with blue spray paint on the north end of Big Corona beach. Police
believe the graffiti was put up sometime Sunday night or early Monday
morning.
“We really don’t see any graffiti in a particular part of town,” said
Sgt. Fred Heinecke. “When we do, we try to take care of it right away.”
Although the graffiti wasn’t painted over by late Monday, the city
planned to have the work done today.
Police said the graffiti appears to be the work of gang members. An
anonymous tipster called the city’s Graffiti Hotline to inform them about
the vandalism.
No one has been arrested in connection with the crime.
