CdM’s Gentry is MVP

Corona del Mar High senior Garrett Gentry, who led the Sea Kings to

their inaugural Pacific Coast League championship en route to the CIF

Southern Section Division II crown, was chosen by PCL coaches as the

circuit’s Most Valuable Player.

Gentry, a two-meter man and a first-team All-Sea View League performer as

a junior, was one of 11 local players recognized, including four

additional first-team honorees.

Seniors Alex Niehenke and Brad Netherton, as well as junior Garrett

Bowlus were first-team picks from CdM, while Costa Mesa senior Mike

Vaillancourt was also on the first team.

CdM seniors Morgan Johnstone, David Fabian and Ryan Jetton were

second-team picks.

Fabian and Vaillancourt were second-team picks as juniors, in the PCL and

Sea View, respectively.

Costa Mesa was represented on the second team by senior Alex Sarris and

junior Mike Whitman.

Estancia senior Brett Hellmich was also a second-team choice.
