Marina tourney field is set

The Marina-O.C. Register Tournament, an annual holiday ritual, will

be held from Dec. 27-30 at the Marina High gymnasium.

The 16-team event features 13 CIF Southern Section teams, one City

Section power (defending tournament champion Palisades), and one team

each from Washington (Redmond) and Nevada (Reno).

Host Marina and Huntington Beach will be among the teams in the hunt for

the tournament title.

‘There’s a good mix of teams in the tournament this year, and it should

be another outstanding tournament for all to come out and see,’ Marina

first-year Coach Butch Fredlow said.

Below is a listing of opening day play on Monday, Dec. 28, with both

championship and consolation bracket play continuing over the next three

days, culminating with the championship game at 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 30.

MONDAY (Dec. 7)

9 a.m. - Estancia vs. Long Beach Jordan

10 a.m. - Huntington Beach vs. Dana Hills

Noon - Palisades vs. Alemany

1:30 p.m. - Capistrano Valley vs. Leuzinger

3 p.m. - El Dorado vs. Pacifica

4:30 p.m. - Redmond (Wash.) vs. Long Beach Wilson

6 p.m. - Santa Margarita vs. Reno (Nevada)

7:30 p.m. - Marina vs. Castro Valley
