Stars reach for a title
In a defensive struggle that was the championship game of the
Campbell Division, Cory Cunningham scored an unassisted goal in the third
period to lift the Stars to a 1-0 victory over the Bulldogs Saturday at
Coast 2 Coast Inline Hockey Center in Huntington Beach.
Stars goalkeeper Colton Daigneault had a big hand in the victory with 17
saves, and his counterpart, Bulldogs’ goalie Willam DeWitt, was equally
as impressive with 20 saves.
The victory capped a strong tournament finish by the Stars, who finished
second to the Jets in regular season play.
The Bulldogs went 4-3-3 during the regular season.

NORRIS DIVISION
Sabres 2, Slickshoes 1
Jeff Fuzzard scored an unassisted goal in the third quarter to give the
Sabres the lead for good, and a division title. Kourtney Kunichika’s
first quarter goal opened the scoring for the unbeaten Sabres, who were
the regular season champions in the Norris East Division. The loss was
the first of the season for the Norris East Division champion Slickshoes,
whose lone goal was scored by J. Daniel Pulfer. Goalie Mark Kosko
recorded 27 saves.
SMYTHE DIVISION
Dragons 5, Timberwolves 1
A balanced scoring attack saw Keith Dickson, Cody Bertrand, Casey
Childers, Jeffrey Kurokawa, and Mark Kanow score single goals, and goalie
Patrick Lacy record 23 saves as the Dragons, who finished in third place
during the regular season, upended the regular season champion
Timberwolves in the title game. Jordan Wallace scored for the
Timberwolves.
