Boys basketball: Eagles run out of gas
Tony Altobelli
ALISO VIEJO - Christmas vacation could not have come any sooner for
Estancia High’s boys basketball team.
Flu bugs and hot Aliso Niguel shooting in the second half added up to a
77-69 loss for the visiting Eagles.
“I don’t like to use excuses, but we just flat out ran out of gas,” Coach
Rich Boyce said. “I couldn’t ask any more out of my guys than what they
gave out there tonight.”
Jason Simco led the Eagles (7-4) with 20 points, while Darshaun Garner
added 15.
Ryann Ross scored 35 points to lead Aliso Niguel (7-4).
Estancia led by eight points at halftime, but the Wolverines outscored
the Eagles, 51-35, in the second half for the win.
“Aliso really ran their game plan well in the second half,” Boyce said.
“They really wanted it late in the game. Give ‘em credit.”
