Former local prep volleyball standouts Jill Meyers of Huntington

Beach High and Kari Hogancamp of Edison took their talents across country

four years ago, and proceeded to leave their marks on the University of

Massachusetts women’s volleyball record book.

Meyers, a three-time All-Atlantic 10 Conference selection, finished her

collegiate career earlier this month by ranking among the top five on 24

Minutewomen career and season lists, including ranking first in kills,

hitting percentage, block assists, total blocks, and in matches with

10-plus and 20-plus kills.

She is the school’s all-time career kills leader with 1,7000.

Meyers also holds the best single-season hitting percentage at the school

with a .308 percentage. A niece of former UCLA standouts Ann

Meyers-Drysdale and Dave Meyers, Meyers, a middle blocker majoring in

political science, recently was named to the GTE Academic All--District I

Team.

While at Huntington Beach High, Meyers earned four varsity letters, was

first team All-Sunset League three years running, and was a two-time

All-State selection. During her senior year, the Oilers won a CIF

championship, finished 24-1 overall, and were ranked No. 1 during the

season by USA Today.

Hogancamp, an outside hitter, closed out her UMass career in the top five

of 17 Minutewomen career and season lists, including ranking first in

digs, digs per game, and in matches with 10-plus and 20-plus digs.

She ranked fourth in kills and third in service aces and holds the top

four single-season digs per game mark at UMass.

Hogancamp, a sports management major, led the conference in digs since

the beginning of the season and averaged 5.23 digs per game in A-10

matches. During the final eight weeks of the regular season, she led the

nation in digs with 5.18 per game.

Hogancamp, tabbed a Fab 50 prospect coming out of high school by

Volleyball Monthly, was second team All-State and a two-time All-Sunset

League performer at Edison, where she established a school record for

most digs in a match (29).
