Jacob Jaramillo slapped home the game-winning goal late in the

final period of the Howe Division championship final to lift the Riptide

to a 3-2 victory over the Renegades at Coast 2 Coast Inline Hockey Center

in Huntington Beach.

Jaramillo scored off a Tyler Lakes assist as the Riptide secured the

title after having won the regular season crown.

It was the second of two assists by Lakes, whose feed set up a Sean

McAlister goal as the Riptide opened up a 1-0 lead.

Lotey Kinney’s unassisted goal at the 4:02 mark of the second period

upped the advantage to 2-0.

The Renegades, who had 16 shots stopped by Riptide goalie Casey Maines,

finally crashed the scoreboard in the third period. Consecutive goals by

Kevin Hamaguchi on an assist by Jeremy Garland, and Jeff Woods, off a

Ricky Kratter feed, forged a 2-2 tie.

The Renegades also finished runner-up to the Riptide during the regular

season.
