Vanguard wins big, 87-30 over La Sierra

COSTA MESA - Vanguard’s women’s basketball team scored the first 43

points in its game against La Sierra en route to an 87-30 win in the

opening round of the Vanguard Christmas Tournament.

La Sierra (2-11) shot 8 % in the first half as it found itself down 52-9

at half. Marisa Emde led Vanguard (10-2) with 21 points and was one of

five Lions to score in double digits. Kelly Boeke had a double-double

with 14 points and 12 rebounds and Laura Lee scored 16 off the bench for

the Lions. Vanguard will face Evangel tonight, at 5:30 p.m.
